Years ago, it was often only the people who were quite wealthy that could holiday abroad but over the last 20 years or so this has become less of the case. So many companies are competiting for the business of the holiday makers that this has driven prices down and many people are now being able to experience their vacation in another country for similar costs to certain places in the UK.

If you are able to travel last minute or book well in advance there are some fantastic deals to be had. You may be able to get a weeks holiday in Greece, for example, for two people for as little as £150 each…including flights. If you compare this to the cost of some of the train tickets to travel from one end of the country to the other, you will soon realise that they are not a million miles apart (no pun intended).
